Exam for critical stretch of waterway, Germany sections, exam syllabus
In Germany, the following sections of the Danube have been identified as particularly risky for shipping:
- Danube 2249-2322 rkm (Vilshofen-Straubing)
The exam can be taken for the entire section or for all or several selected sections during one exam.
- Danube 2249-2259 rkm
- Danube 2259-2269 rkm
- Danube 2269-2276 rkm
- Danube 2276-2284 rkm
- Danube 2284-2295 rkm
- Danube 2295-2305 rkm
- Danube 2305-2314 rkm
- Danube 2314-2322 rkm
The exam should include an oral assessment to measure the level of knowledge, which should last at least 30 minutes but no more than 90 minutes, depending on the length of the selected section being tested.
Application conditions required to register for the exam, subject to submission of a completed and signed application form:
- verify identity
- European Union boatmasters' certificate, or
- meeting the minimum requirements laid down by law for obtaining EU certificates of competency for boatmasters (authorised to issue a boatmasters' document but not yet requested)
- at least three of the 3 upstream and 3 downstream journeys must have been completed within 3 years prior to the exam (on a craft covered by Directive 2017/2397 as a deck crew member),
- proof that the candidate was in the wheelhouse of the ship during the 3-3 voyages and that on at least one voyage he/she steered the ship and operated the propulsion equipment independently. This proof is provided by attaching a signed declaration issued by the ship's boatmaster or the candidate's employer to the examination application documentation,
- payment of the examination fee.
Upon successful completion of the exam, in possession of the boatmaster's certificate, the Hungarian Shipping Examination centre shall, upon request, exchange the certificate for a new, in which the section of critical strech covered by the special permit is entered in the box of the coded individual licences.
